Akshaya Tritiya is one of the most auspicious days in the Hindu calendar and holds special importance in Odisha. It is considered a highly sacred day for new beginnings, prosperity, and divine blessings. In the Jagannath culture of Odisha, this day marks the beginning of two major events – the Chandan Yatra and the construction of the chariots for Rath Yatra.
When is Akshaya Tritiya celebrated?
Akshaya Tritiya falls on the third day of the bright fortnight (Shukla Paksha Tritiya) in the Odia month of Baisakha (April–May). In 2026, this auspicious day will be celebrated according to the traditional Odia Panjika.
Meaning of Akshaya Tritiya: The word “Akshaya” means that which never diminishes. It is believed that any good deed, charity, or new work started on this day brings everlasting results. According to mythology, many divine events are associated with this day, including the beginning of the Treta Yuga and the appearance of Goddess Annapurna.

ଅକ୍ଷୟ ତୃତୀୟା ହିନ୍ଦୁ କ୍ୟାଲେଣ୍ଡରର ଅନ୍ୟତମ ଅତ୍ୟନ୍ତ ଶୁଭ ଦିନ ଏବଂ ଓଡ଼ିଶାରେ ଏହାର ବିଶେଷ ମହତ୍ତ୍ୱ ରହିଛି। ଏହାକୁ ନୂତନ ଆରମ୍ଭ, ସମୃଦ୍ଧି ଓ ଦିବ୍ୟ ଆଶୀର୍ବାଦ ପାଇଁ ଅତ୍ୟନ୍ତ ପବିତ୍ର ଦିନ ବୋଲି ବିବେଚନା କରାଯାଏ। ଓଡ଼ିଶାର ଜଗନ୍ନାଥ ସଂସ୍କୃତିରେ ଏହି ଦିନ ଦୁଇଟି ବଡ଼ ଘଟଣାର ଆରମ୍ଭ ହୁଏ – ଚନ୍ଦନ ଯାତ୍ରା ଏବଂ ରଥଯାତ୍ରା ପାଇଁ ରଥ ନିର୍ମାଣ।
ଅକ୍ଷୟ ତୃତୀୟା କେବେ ପାଳିତ ହୁଏ?
ଅକ୍ଷୟ ତୃତୀୟା ବୈଶାଖ ମାସ ଶୁକ୍ଳ ପକ୍ଷ ତୃତୀୟା ତିଥିରେ (ଏପ୍ରିଲ୍–ମେ) ପଡ଼େ। ୨୦୨୬ ମସିହାରେ ଏହି ଶୁଭ ଦିନ ଓଡ଼ିଆ ପଞ୍ଜିକା ଅନୁସାରେ ପାଳିତ ହେବ।
ଅକ୍ଷୟ ତୃତୀୟାର ଅର୍ଥ: “ଅକ୍ଷୟ” ଶବ୍ଦର ଅର୍ଥ ହେଉଛି ଯାହା କଖନେ କମେ ନାହିଁ। ଏହି ଦିନ ଆରମ୍ଭ କରାଯାଉଥିବା ଯେକୌଣସି ସତ୍କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ, ଦାନ ବା ନୂତନ କାମର ଫଳ ଅକ୍ଷୟ ହୁଏ ବୋଲି ବିଶ୍ୱାସ କରାଯାଏ। ପୁରାଣ ଅନୁସାରେ, ଏହି ଦିନ ସହିତ ଅନେକ ଦିବ୍ୟ ଘଟଣା ଜଡ଼ିତ, ଯେପରିକି ତ୍ରେତା ଯୁଗର ଆରମ୍ଭ ଓ ମା’ ଅନ୍ନପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣାଙ୍କ ଆବିର୍ଭାବ।
ଓଡ଼ିଶାରେ ବିଶେଷ ମହତ୍ତ୍ୱ
ଓଡ଼ିଶାରେ ଅକ୍ଷୟ ତୃତୀୟା ଶ୍ରୀଜଗନ୍ନାଥଙ୍କ ସହିତ ଗଭୀର ଭାବେ ଜଡ଼ିତ:
ଏହି ଦିନଠାରୁ ଚନ୍ଦନ ଯାତ୍ରା ଆରମ୍ଭ ହୁଏ।
ରଥଯାତ୍ରା ପାଇଁ ତିନୋଟି ରଥ (ନନ୍ଦିଘୋଷ, ତାଳଧ୍ୱଜ ଓ ଦର୍ପଦଳନ)ର ନିର୍ମାଣ ପୁରୀର ରଥଖଳାରେ ଅକ୍ଷୟ ତୃତୀୟାରୁ ସରକାରୀ ଭାବେ ଆରମ୍ଭ ହୁଏ।
ଭକ୍ତମାନେ ଏହି ଦିନ ନୂତନ କାମ ଆରମ୍ଭ କରିବା, ସୁନା କିଣିବା ବା ଦାନ କରିବାକୁ ଅତ୍ୟନ୍ତ ଶୁଭ ବୋଲି ମାନନ୍ତି।

ଲୋକେ ସକାଳୁ ଉଠି ପବିତ୍ର ସ୍ନାନ କରନ୍ତି।
ଶ୍ରୀଜଗନ୍ନାଥ, ଭଗବାନ ବିଷ୍ଣୁ ଓ ମା’ ଲକ୍ଷ୍ମୀଙ୍କୁ ବିଶେଷ ପୂଜା ଅର୍ପଣ କରାଯାଏ।
ଅନେକ ଲୋକ ଏହି ଦିନ ସୁନା, ରୂପା ବା ନୂଆ ବାସନ କିଣନ୍ତି, ଯାହାଦ୍ୱାରା ସ୍ଥାୟୀ ସମୃଦ୍ଧି ମିଳେ ବୋଲି ବିଶ୍ୱାସ।
ଦାନ ଓ ଗରିବଙ୍କୁ ଖାଦ୍ୟ ଦେବାକୁ ଅତ୍ୟନ୍ତ ପୁଣ୍ୟକର ବୋଲି ବିବେଚନା କରାଯାଏ।
ପୁରୀରେ ରଥ ନିର୍ମାଣ ଆରମ୍ଭ ସମ୍ବନ୍ଧୀୟ ନୀତି ଭକ୍ତିର ସହିତ ଅନୁଷ୍ଠିତ ହୁଏ।
ଆଧ୍ୟାତ୍ମିକ ମହତ୍ତ୍ୱ ଅକ୍ଷୟ ତୃତୀୟାକୁ ଏପରି ଏକ ଦିନ ବୋଲି ବିଶ୍ୱାସ କରାଯାଏ ଯେଉଁଦିନ ଭଗବାନଙ୍କ ଆଶୀର୍ବାଦ କଖନେ କମେ ନାହିଁ। ଏହି ଦିନ କରାଯାଉଥିବା ପ୍ରାର୍ଥନା, ଦାନ ବା ସତ୍କାର୍ଯ୍ୟର ଫଳ ସ୍ଥାୟୀ ହୁଏ ବୋଲି ମାନାଯାଏ।
ଓଡ଼ିଶାରେ ଲୋକେ କିପରି ପାଳନ କରନ୍ତି: ମନ୍ଦିରମାନଙ୍କରେ, ବିଶେଷକରି ପୁରୀ ଶ୍ରୀମନ୍ଦିରରେ ବିଶେଷ ନୀତି ହୁଏ। ପରିବାର ଘରେ ପୂଜା କରନ୍ତି ଏବଂ ଅନେକ ଲୋକ ମନ୍ଦିର ଦର୍ଶନ କରି ଆଶୀର୍ବାଦ ନିଅନ୍ତି। ସବୁଆଡ଼େ ଭକ୍ତି ଓ ସମୃଦ୍ଧିର ଆଶାରେ ପରିବେଶ ଭରିଯାଏ।
କିଛି ଆକର୍ଷଣୀୟ ତଥ୍ୟ
ଅକ୍ଷୟ ତୃତୀୟା ବର୍ଷର ସେହି କିଛି ଦିନ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ ଗୋଟିଏ ଯେଉଁଦିନ ପ୍ରାୟ ସବୁ କାମ ପାଇଁ ଶୁଭ ବୋଲି ବିବେଚନା କରାଯାଏ (ମୁହୂର୍ତ୍ତ ଦେଖିବା ଆବଶ୍ୟକ ନୁହେଁ)।
ରଥଯାତ୍ରାର ରଥ ନିର୍ମାଣ ଏହି ଦିନଠାରୁ ଆରମ୍ଭ ହେବା ଏକ ଶତାବ୍ଦୀ ପୁରୁଣା ପରମ୍ପରା।
ଏହି ଦିନଠାରୁ ୪୨ ଦିନିଆ ଚନ୍ଦନ ଯାତ୍ରା ମଧ୍ୟ ଆରମ୍ଭ ହୁଏ।
ଏହି ଦିନ ସୁନା କିଣିଲେ ଧନ ବୃଦ୍ଧି ହୁଏ ବୋଲି ଅନେକଙ୍କ ବିଶ୍ୱାସ।
ଅକ୍ଷୟ ତୃତୀୟା ଆଶା, ସମୃଦ୍ଧି ଓ ଦିବ୍ୟ କୃପାର ଦିନ। ଏହା ଆମକୁ ମନେ ପକାଏ ଯେ ବିଶ୍ୱାସ ସହିତ କରାଯାଉଥିବା ସତ୍କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ ଜୀବନରେ ସ୍ଥାୟୀ ଆଶୀର୍ବାଦ ଆଣିପାରେ।
